Come here often?

Sorry I've been absent as of late. I could blame it on my recent move, and life being busy. But the truth is summer has finally arrived in our little town ( I know- August?!). And as crazy as it sounds the idea of sitting in a hot room with my Mac book's battery warming my legs is not as appealing when it is almost 30 degrees outside as it was in the cool winter/spring months (November- July here in Fernie).

Now that my excuses have been made here are a couple arrangements that went to loving homes this week.

Miss You:  White button mums, scabiosa pods, eryngium, hypericum, pitt

Thinking of You: Green button mums, blushing bride, lavender scabiosa, pitt, tree fern

PS- although I'm not posting as much- I've always got the blog on my mind : ) I've got some pretty exciting stuff planned for the near future. ooohhhh.... keep checking back! I'm so excited to share them!!

Beauty in the land of Blog: FRESH Photography

This morning I was doing one of my favorite things... wandering through the land of blogs (floral and photography blogs to be more specific). I love the creativity that is out there, and I especially love it when you find someone from your neck of the woods, doing amazing work! (I also love that I can excuse it as "research" for work!) Well today I stumbled across the FRESH Photography blog and kinda got real excited- so creative! I was pouring through it post by post and stumbled across a Fernie wedding she had done this summer- it was one of mine and one I was wishing I had better images of. Well here they are- LOvE & LoVE!!

And I'll leave you with a photo, because really what is a posting with out a picture?! This one was donated as a door prize for a local fundraiser last month. Kinda nice to see something not red and green!!

Weddings... Fernie style.

Despite the dreary weather, yesterday was a great day. Local photographer Matt Kuhn and I spent the afternoon at several Fernie Landmarks with the lovely Carly getting some great photos. Matt had some great ideas and executed them beautifully! Here is a quick peek at some of the shots but head over to his blog to see the rest!

They're not so bad!

This past week has been pretty full of bridal consults. And most weddings seem to involve either red or purple! A couple of brides I had in this week were looking for a deep purple in their bouquets. I decided to show them the purple artichoke I got in ...

The bottle is there just to show the scale. Needless to say they weren't really sure what to say. Recognizing it may be hard to picture yourself walking down the aisle holding a large vegetable, I decided to try to bring some perspective and make up a bridal bouquet using the beaut.
I'm pretty happy with the results...

I surrounded the artichoke with green hypericum berries, mini cymbidium orchids, cordyline leaves, and myrtle.
