Matt Kuhn sent me a few shots from Tarah & Thomas' wedding July 2012.  Thomas and Tarah are both active people who love to be outdoors and to spend time with the people they love. This intimate lakeside ceremony was so them and despite having to make some location changes due to flooding, it was a picture perfect scene.

I had such a great time being a part of this wedding! All the best you two!

Citrus Spring Wedding

This past weekend a dear friend of mine was married. Not only was I lucky enough to do the flowers, but I also was the Maid of Honor. We lived together for two years and we have been through a lot together, it was so special to play a role in her day. She was a pretty easy bride to work with as her only requests were that Gerberas were included (her favorite) and the colors were orange & green.

There were four bridesmaids, we each carried a posy of Green mini hydrangea, green hypericum berries, orange mini gerberas, and orange mokara orchids all finished off with lily grass loops in lieu of traditional greenery.

Moraya's bouquet is probably one of my favorites I've made to date. As you may know I'm a sucker for color and texture- so much texture! The bride's bouquet was a tight hand tie of Green mini hydrangea, green hypericum berries, green mini cymbidium orchids, orange mokara orchids, orange pincushion protea, orange mini gerbera daisies, orange ornithogalum.

Again I finished off the bouquet with loops of lily grass- I loved how it looked so "sweepy"! The final touch was a simple single wrap of orange silk and two pearl pins (which matched her earring perfectly!).

The Head Table Centerpiece included all the elements of the bouquets in a grouping  design.

Happy Marmie Day

Marmie- it's what I call my mom. Why? Couldn't tell you, maybe I like having a name that only I call her... She's an amazing woman, and it just so happens that she LOVES flowers. So for the past few years it has worked out well, having her daughter work at a flower shop. But once I opened my own shop she started to get the "left over" flowers or the ones I didn't want to sell. Poor marmie. So I was determined to get her the "first choice" flower this mother's day. Here they be.... (though I had a few people try to buy them off me)

We're going to the movies! ! No duh!

The big event in Fernie this weekend is the premiere for the film Hot Tub Time Machine.  HTTM was filmed in Fernie, so a lot of the locals will be in it as extras. As you may have guessed it is about a group of friends that get into a hot tub which .... is  a time machine! A majority of the film is set in the 1980's, and I tried to keep this in mind as I designed an arrangement for the foyer of the theatre. (Though I did my best to stay away from carnations and babies breath!)

I decided to go with bright colours as they remind me of my hot pink ski jacket and my brother's fluorescent green ski suit with matching head band...

So I guess it's the eighties but edited and updated; I opted to keep the lines modern and clean.

It's difficult to see in the picture but I weighted the vase with rocks and then swirled hot pink, spring green & electric blue wire up the inside of the "tubular" vase to give it a bit more of that 80's feel. It's totally rad!
